Getting Married

We are excited to partner with you on one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make, getting married! We have broken down the entire process to make it as smooth as possible to be married by one of our pastors at New Day or at an off-site location!

Step 1: Our Policies

  • We believe that God is the ultimate authority on the definition of marriage. Therefore, we hold to a biblical definition of marriage in that, it is a covenant relationship between a man and a woman. (Genesis 2:22-24)
  • The bible specifically forbids a Christian to be yoked together with a non-Christian, according to 2 Corinthians 6:14. Therefore, we will not perform a ceremony unless both parties involved are professing believers in Christ Jesus.
  • New Day Church pastors prioritize weddings for regular attendees that are actively engaged at New Day Church. Active attendees have attended a Discover Class, give of their time, talent, & treasure to New Day Church, and participate in a small group. (We will verify our database to confirm these commitments.)
  • Couples who are currently living together will be limited to a private or off-site wedding. It is our experience that couples who live together are more likely to be intimate with one another. This premature physical connectedness may skew one’s ability to see clearly whether or not the foundational building blocks are present on which a lifelong marriage can be built. If a couple in this situation agrees to live separately and abstain from having sex for a minimum of 3 months time, we will re-consider the application for the traditional wedding option.
  • We offer 3 types of wedding packages at New Day. A Simple Wedding Package (for up to 10 guests) Traditional Wedding Package (for up to 400 guests) and our Off-Site Wedding Package. To compare these packages and see which option is best for your wedding, click here
  • In order to complete all of the steps in our pre-marital process, we require that you submit your application at least 3 months prior to your wedding date.
  • All couples must complete the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) pre-marital assessment and subsequent mentoring sessions with our trained pre-marital mentors. Couples will typically meet for 4 sessions with their facilitators to review their individualized assessment.
  • Couples are responsible for reading and signing our building usage form (if planning to use the building) and mailing in payment for all wedding fees prior to taking the marriage assessment.
  • Couples are responsible for acquiring a marriage license from the town you are getting married in.
  • Due to time constraints, some of the pastoral staff unfortunately will not be able to accommodate your request to perform a ceremony on Sunday’s or destinations farther than one hour from our church building. In addition, the officiating pastor will normally not be able to attend the wedding reception. We mention this in case you need to line someone up to say a prayer over the meal served at the reception.
  • New Day Church does not provide a wedding coordinator or a space for a reception.
  • A wedding is a sacred covenant before God. As such, New Day Church pastors reserve the right to refuse to perform a wedding at their own discretion. New Day Church pastors also reserve the right to suggest or require additional counseling sessions, professional counseling or require additional time before performing a wedding ceremony, at their own discretion.

If you comply in accordance with our stated policies, please proceed to Step 2.
